Tell A&W your stories

2010/05/20

KUALA LUMPUR: A&W, the country's oldest fast food restaurant, invites the public to enter its "A&W What's Your Story?" contest by describing their fond moments while dining at any of its outlets.

Write an essay of between 350 and 500 words or video it in not more than 120 seconds.

A&W, a subsidiary of KUB Malaysia Berhad, aims to reach out to its customers who had been supporting the brand all these years.

KUB Malaysia Berhad group managing director Datuk Mohd Nazar Samad said the idea for the contest came about when Federal Territories and Urban Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin re-launched the first A&W outlet at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman recently.

"He couldn't help but reminisce how he used to frequent the restaurant with his family members and friends. It was his story that drove us to organise the contest."

Media Prima Business Development and International chief operations officer Datuk Kamal Khalid and KUB Malaysia Berhad chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Samad were also present.

Nazar said participants of the top five entries of the essay and video categories would present their accounts in front of a live audience and a panel of judges in the finals.

The finals will be held at Hotel Singgahsana in Petaling Jaya in the third week of July.

The contest, supported by Media Prima Group, will run from May 22 to July 10 and is open to all Malaysians, aged 12 and above.

Participants only need to spend RM18 in a single receipt to receive a scratch card which entitles them to submit one entry. Entries can be posted online at www.whatsyourstory.com.my or email to entry@whatsyourstory.com.my, or send them with the receipt.

Those who wish to know more can log on to www.whatsyourstory.com.my.
